Client
Our client provided us with a huge blank canvas to work with (65m x 35m), with one major issue to overcome. The garden sat almost at the height of the water table.
Objectives
- Install paths to make the garden accessible all year round
- Create a pond that can sustain wildlife
- Design various planting areas which are suitable to the conditions
Our Creation
- Install elevated Cotswold gravel paths, lined with steel edging, throughout the garden
- In the wettest area of the garden build a boardwalk. We used composite posts, which do not rot
- Created a 150m2 pond; complete with a liner, filter, waterfall feature and Purbeck stone edging
- In the wetter areas of the garden we installed a mixture of bog plants and water loving plants. These included items such as iris sibirica, cornus, Dryopteris
- In the upper, south facing area of the garden we incorporated more Mediterranean plants for their drought tolerant properties. This included: lavenders, salvias, nepeta, euphorbia and agapanthus
- A raised bed area, which allows the client to grow their own fruit and vegetables
